Facts about Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is the largest of the seven emirates that comprise the United Arab Emirates and was also the largest of the former Trucial States. Abu Dhabi is also a city of the same name within the Emirate that is the capital of the country, in north central UAE. The city lies on a T-shaped island jutting into the Persian Gulf from the central western coast. The capital houses important offices of the federal government, and is the seat for the United Arab Emirates Government and the home for the Abu Dhabi Emiri Family and the President of the UAE from this family. Abu Dhabi has grown to be a cosmopolitan metropolis. Its rapid development and urbanisation, coupled with the relatively high average income of its population, has transformed Abu Dhabi to a larger and advanced metropolis.

Languages: Arabic, English, Hindi and Urdu are widely spoken.
Currency: The local currency is UAE Dirhams (AED), divided into 100 fils.
Climate:  Warm days and pleasant evenings from October through May; June through September are hot and humid.
Clothing:  Lightweight clothing. Business attire is formal. Beach wear is acceptable at the hotel pools, resorts and beaches.
